Lift me off the ground
Take me to another star and set me down
On a habitable world
Now unlike the one on which our end’s unfurled
For the land is dead, the sky is black
Our mother’s drowned in blood
And I fear that it may be too late
As we’re sinking deep in mud
Is there possibility
In moving to a land that’s fresh - a new reality?
We’d fly into the night
To give our children all a chance to make things right
Because the sky’s not just a tapestry
But a space to be flown through
And now when I see the moon
I see the dark side too

War on Ourselves
04:52
|
|||
In the day we walk all alone
At night we stumble back home
And awake in a broken down shack
To walk past the smoldering ruins of our own attack
Running out of time, filling up with hate
Losing will to wage this war on ourselves we create
Standing over us brandishing our steel
We look into our own face and pray the wounds will heal
Which is right, which is wrong?
The thought permeates for too long
Make your choice - who’s your friend?
They say take what you will and do not complain in the end

Happy Accidents
05:55
|
|||
Pale bright blue blanketing sheets of gold
On a crimson bed
Pillow clouds perfectly dot the frame
But god’s paintbrush slipped
Dots below in unified motion
A crowd in Seurat
Bring to light the dark things that we are
And change what we’re not
There’s no happy accidents
Into this painting we were born
It’s a picture perfect world
The canvas underneath us torn
Too late, can’t replace the canvas
We mend it instead
Save all the rest of the living
And honor the dead
Years from now, in a dusty attic
Or museum wall
The painting hangs - will it display triumph
Or show our downfall?

March of the Ents
03:19
|
|||
Sunlight on the mountains green
Here a clearing never seen
Evaporated are their sighs
These bare roots give ancient cries
These bare roots give ancient cries
These bare roots give ancient cries
Dormant now is one who dies
These bare roots give ancient cries
Eagles soar on wings of ash
My brothers roar and watch them crash
March on those who burn and maim
Break the dam and water purges flame
Break the dam and water purges flame
Break the dam and water purges flame
March for those who have no name
Break the dam and water purges flame

Across the Bridge
06:25
|
|||
February evening
Sun beats through the clouds, light shines through the dead trees
The ashes of our great fire
Drift to the ground as the withered branches all sway in the breeze
A rusty old bridge
Trusses underneath - a stream runs by
Water running red
Head turned upward to a sky where no birds fly
Across the bridge, awaits only your doom
Progress led you here
A new place to consume
Monetize each inch
Exploit the ground you’re on
Took for granted all you reaped til it was gone
We scour the rubble
In search of anything to aid on our death march
Drift from shanty towns to the seaside
Our days numbered by light growing dark
Endangered now, the predator became the prey
Hunted down to extinction
By the ground on which we lay
At the end of the sixth
Dusk has shrouded all that’s left of the land
The last of those left watch the sky
And the final ship sails off into the night
Where did we go wrong?

Hindsight
04:51
|
|||
Looking out the window, I can see beyond the stars
When I was a child, I’d do the same and just see cars
The sight of cosmic wonders would have been a welcome change
But now instead of wonder, all I feel is shame
And looking back, a wasted chance
If we just chose to believe, but
We only gave a passing glance
When the beauty of the forest and the crystal mountain stream
Have faded into memory - a retrospective dream
Will we regret our hubris and cast our pride away?
If our only gift we squandered, we burned and could not stay
And now I find no happiness
I’m just filled with fear and rage
In pondering what comes next
And looking back, a wasted chance
If we just chose to believe, but
We only gave a passing glance
